Mount Maker Beta 0.9.2 - Whoop Canopies, XT Mounts and Rear Mount Refinements
Originally published on itch.io
Beta 0.9.2 adds two new ways to build mounts and a substantial round of improvements to rear antenna assemblies. This update covers the changes since Beta 0.9.1:2.
- Whoop canopies
There is now a dedicated whoop canopy module, starting with an Air65 ish style layout and a camera facing a corner of the mounting pattern. You can select two, three or four mounting feet, adjust the bolt spacing and electronics space, and change the camera height, forward position and angle.
Automatic fit can raise or move the camera forward to resolve clearance conflicts while keeping your entered camera dimensions and bolt spacing intact. Manual positioning and custom camera dimensions remain available.
Camera starting presets include:
- DJI O4 Wide and O4 Lite in their original mounts.
- RunCam Nano 2 and Nano 4.
- Caddx Ant and Ant Lite.
- Walksnail Avatar Nano V3.
- HDZero ECO.
THESE ARE UNTESTED
Both screw and press fit holders are available, with screw hole choices down to M1. Paired antennas can spread sideways all the way to horizontal, and their roots can sit inside the canopy boundary or behind it.
Canopies are still a fit test feature. Presets are starting points, and some mounting offsets are estimates; measure your hardware and test the fit before flying.
- Standalone XT connector mounts
A new power connector module supports XT30/XT30U, XT60 and XT90 holders attached to one or two standoffs. It is intended for side-mounted plugs as well as rear mounting. You can adjust the standoff spacing and sleeves, choose the side of a single-standoff attachment, and tune the connector pocket, retaining lip, outward reach and wire space.
- Rear antenna mounts
Rear mounts now support three upper antennas, including separate settings for the center fitting. SMA bulkhead holders are available alongside antenna tubes, so tube and SMA fittings can be combined in one assembly. SMA compatibility needs testing
You can also choose no upper antennas. This lets you make separate GPS, T-antenna or power-connector pieces and build up a modular rear arrangement.
XT30 and XT60 holders can be included in the rear assembly. The layout keeps the holders behind the standoffs, allows printed walls to merge with adjacent antenna supports, and includes an inward-facing route for the power wires.
Compact mode is now the default. The body uses more continuous support, softer tube transitions and tapered lower supports, reducing awkward gaps and unsupported sections. Cable routes into the frame have been opened up and combined where appropriate to make feeding wires easier. This change may cause issues with previously saved antenna mounts.
- GPS and T-antenna improvements
GPS trays tuck closer to the mount and have better support underneath. Placement has been corrected so low trays do not disappear into the main body, and the tray-to-body connection no longer leaves the unwanted gap. The minimum GPS pocket height is now 1.5 mm for thin boards. An optional horizontal wiring opening routes toward the drone, while upper lips help retain the GPS.
T-antenna holders can sit right against the standoffs. Bottom-loading choices now include opening either half or the entire bottom of the wider crossbar holder, making it easier to insert an assembled antenna. Removing accessories is more tolerant, and blocked T-antenna and low XT wire openings in zero-antenna layouts have been corrected.
- Help and the demo
Documentation and Community/feedback buttons now link directly to mountmaker.net and the itch.io community page.
Both the full version and demo are updated to Beta 0.9.2. The demo still allows editable projects to be saved and reopened in the full version. Printable STL and library exports remain full-version features.
As always, check the finished model in your slicer and test the hardware fit. The print-focused changes aim to reduce support needs; the result still depends on the design settings, print orientation and material.
