MOUNT MAKER / BETA 0.9.2

Custom FPV arm protectors from a photo or SVG

Use your own carbon outline to shape an arm protector. Start with an underside photograph or an SVG drawing, place the motor screws, and adjust the printable part around the frame’s real dimensions.

Photo or vector reference

Calibrate a photograph using measured hardware, or select a closed outline from an SVG drawing.

Editable outlines

Move curve points, add sharp corners, and trim the arm length. The entrance stays straight while the outline follows the carbon.

Fit around the hardware

Set screw clearances, a shaft recess if needed, and the protector’s height and allowance. Watch the 3D preview while editing.

BEFORE YOU START

Measure the actual build.

  • A known screw-center distance to calibrate the photo or drawing
  • Carbon thickness, screw-head sizes, and any shaft recess
  • The arm entrance, protector height, and printed fit allowance

The preview helps you design the part. Printed fit, retention, and strength still depend on your measurements, material, and printer.

From dimensions to STL

  1. Load a reference

Use a clear underside photo or a plain SVG outline and confirm its physical scale.

  2. Trace and fit

Place the screw centers, refine the outline, and enter the measured carbon thickness.

  3. Save and test print

Apply the design to the workbench, save a project, and export an STL in the full version. Check the printed fit before use.

Questions about arm protectors

Does the photo automatically measure the arm?

No. A photo provides the outline reference. You must calibrate it with a known measurement and enter the real carbon thickness separately.

Can I use a frame CAD drawing?

Yes, through a plain SVG outline. Convert DWG or DXF to SVG in your drawing software first, verify scale, and place the mounting screws manually.

Can I resume an unfinished outline?

Yes. Close · keep draft preserves a local recovery draft. Save finished work as a portable .mmproject because later editing can replace the recovery slot.
