Arm feet from SVG drawings
Import a vector outline, verify scale, place screw centers, and trim the arm to make a custom protector.

In Arm foot from photo, choose Import SVG drawing to use a vector drawing instead of a photograph. Convert DWG or DXF files to plain SVG in your drawing application first.
Use a closed arm outline. SVG paths with curves and arcs, common closed shapes, physical units, and group transforms are supported. Flatten clipping, masks, external references, and nested viewports before importing. Open paths cannot serve as the closed arm boundary.
Select the outline and verify scale#
Choose the arm boundary from Choose an outline from the drawing. Check Measured outline width (mm) against a known physical measurement and correct it if necessary. Never assume an exported drawing has retained the intended scale.
Gray contours show drawing details such as holes and slots. They are reference guides, not automatically selected mounting holes. Choosing a different outline clears screw markers and resets that outline's edits; Undo edit restores the previous choice.
Place mounting screws#
Choose Place mounting screws to open Screws & scale, then click each mounting-screw center yourself. Set the screw-hole and head dimensions for the hardware you will use. SVG imports begin with no screw markers.
Check every center against the drawing and real arm. Configure a shaft recess only if required. Resolve any red hardware conflicts before applying the foot.
Trim the arm length#
In Fit outline, choose Trim arm length. Mark two points across the outline, hover over the end to preview the result, then click the end you want to keep.
The cut becomes the straight green arm entrance. Curves on the retained portion keep their shape, and screw markers on the discarded end are removed. Undo edit restores the operation; Escape cancels an unfinished trim. This tool also works on photo outlines without changing their calibration.
Refine curves and fit#
Open Advanced: fine-tune curves, select an outline point, and drag its orange handles to adjust the bends. Drag the point itself to move it, or click a curve to add a point. Edits that cross the outline are stopped and the arm entrance remains straight.
Use the delete control, Delete/Backspace, or Remove handles mode to remove unwanted outline points. Keep enough points to describe the arm without unnecessary small features.
Continue to Foot fit to set arm thickness, foot height, and fit allowance, then inspect the live preview. The drawing supplies an outline; you still need to measure the real carbon thickness.
Apply and save#
Choose Use this foot to commit the design to the workbench, then save a .mmproject and export an STL in the full version. The chosen outline, editable curves, drawing guides, and screw positions stay with saved projects and recovery drafts.
Close · keep draft lets you return with Resume saved foot draft. A recovery draft is replaced by later editing, so save completed projects separately. See Arm feet from photos for physical-fit and draft details.
