Projects & sharing

Keep editable designs, build reusable sleeve and drone libraries, and share files with their attribution intact.

Choose the right file#

  • .mmproject: the complete editable design, including source geometry when needed, operations, dimensions, and project details.
  • .mmsleeve: a reusable prepared sleeve with its source mesh, preparation recipe, revision, thumbnail, and attribution.
  • .mmdrone: a reusable frame profile containing bolt-pattern measurements and optional standoff dimensions.
  • .stl: the generated geometry for a slicer. It does not keep the editable Mount Maker recipe.

Projects are self-contained. Reopening does not depend on a source STL, selected sleeve file, or drone profile remaining in its original location.

Save a complete project#

Set the project name, author, camera or device compatibility, and drone compatibility. Choose Save project after the newest valid geometry finishes.

Sharing the file shares its embedded content. Arm-foot projects can contain the source photo; review it before sending. Project author information is separate from source-sleeve attribution.

Switching design types keeps each tool's latest design in memory during the session. Save each design separately before closing the app.

Build a sleeve library#

Choose sleeve opens the visual browser. Search names, authors, camera models, or notes, or use the camera filter. Select a thumbnail to inspect its details before choosing Use sleeve.

Open folder opens UserLibrary/Sleeves beside the executable. Copy shared .mmsleeve files there and choose Refresh, or use Add shared sleeve… to validate and import one. Export sleeve file… saves the selected asset for sharing.

Re-saving a library sleeve creates a new revision in a new file. Existing revisions are preserved. Its metadata includes author and attribution/license information; keep those details when sharing or adapting it.

Choosing a sleeve preserves the current bolt pattern, drone profile, and angle, but resets sleeve placement and lift, enables automatic base seating, and turns off access cuts and the camera envelope. Recheck those settings for the new sleeve.

Save a drone profile#

Expand Drone profiles to select, import, save, or export a .mmdrone file. Open folder opens UserLibrary/Drones. Copy files into it and choose Refresh.

A profile records name, author, frame/revision, notes, bolt layout, center spacing, and hole diameter. Optional standoff spacing and diameter can drive FPV and antenna generators. Label whether measurements describe the front or rear of the frame.

Applying a profile is one undoable change. Later bolt edits display Modified from instead of implying an exact match. Unsupported or malformed files are listed and skipped.

Versions and portability#

The current workbench saves project package version 14 and can read earlier package versions 1–13. Older settings preserve their previous geometry until you opt into new controls. Drone profiles use their own version, as do sleeve assets.

These package versions do not establish compatibility with every legacy 0.8-era file. Keep original copies and verify a migrated result before replacing your working files. The editor and standalone app have separate libraries; copy assets explicitly if moving between them.

The local library is shared by copying files. It is not an online discovery or automatic cloud-sync system.
