Troubleshooting
Resolve import failures, blocked exports, unexpected dimensions, missing library items, and fit warnings.

Check that it is one connected, closed, consistently oriented surface. Open edges, inconsistent winding, degenerate faces, or disconnected pieces can stop import. Repair the source in a mesh editor and export it again.
OBJ import uses mesh geometry only. Triangulate non-flat polygons and curved surfaces before export. Do not expect materials, textures, or an automatic unit conversion to transfer.
The dimensions are wrong#
STL and OBJ are interpreted in millimeters without automatic scaling. Compare the imported bounds to the real camera or sleeve. Correct units in the source application and export again if needed.
For bolt layouts, measure between hole centers. Front and rear widths are separate from front-to-rear spacing. For a drone profile, confirm the frame revision and whether standoff measurements describe the front or rear.
Save or Export STL is unavailable#
Wait for live geometry to finish. If it stays unavailable, read the notice and restore valid settings. A rejected change keeps the previous valid model on screen; that visible model may not match the invalid values currently entered.
Undo the latest change or adjust the conflicting measurements. The app only commits and exports a valid result matching the controls.
The export contains only a sleeve#
For an action-camera design, switch from Prepare to Mount before exporting. Export follows the current tab. Use Save project as well if you want to preserve the complete editable design.
A path is marked blocked#
A clearance warning reports an obstruction in a defined guide, not necessarily an invalid mesh. Check the guide dimensions and actual installation path. Optional access holes remove material only when explicitly enabled.
FPV camera movement uses a conservative envelope and can over-report obstructions. No guide checks every part of the aircraft. Read Clearance & fit checks.
A shared sleeve or drone is missing#
Use Open folder from the relevant library and confirm the file is in that folder. Choose Refresh after copying it. Use Add shared sleeve… when importing a sleeve through the app.
Check the list for malformed or unsupported packages. Keep the portable app in a writable directory. The Unity editor and Windows app use separate library locations.
A photo foot cannot be applied#
Complete the scale calibration and resolve red hardware conflicts. The dimmed preview is the previous valid result, not a confirmation that the new settings work. Correcting the dimensions preserves the outline.
Use Close · keep draft if you need to return later, then Resume saved foot draft. Save a finished project separately; a local recovery draft is replaced by subsequent editing.
Report a reproducible problem#
Post in the itch.io community or email [email protected] for private support. Include:
- Your Mount Maker version and Windows version.
- The design tool, starting file type, and relevant dimensions.
- The exact steps to reproduce the problem.
- The full error or notice text and a screenshot.
- What you expected to happen and what actually happened.
Only share files you have permission to redistribute. Remove private information from screenshots and remember that arm-foot projects can include a photograph.
